The Fish Market

March 29, 2016

Today, we FINALLY managed to make it to the Open Air Fish Market! 😀
This stuff comes in straight off the boats to all major cities in Ecuador, as well as to many smaller towns.
It is fresh, fresh, fresh and cheap, cheap, cheap!
I had to interrupt Carlos for an early lunch… as this is the kind of place you want to visit FIRST thing in the day 🙂
Maybe next time, I’ll know enough Spanish to do this all on my own!
We left with 2 lbs of Jumbo Shrimp (cleaned, peeled, deveined, and tails removed) for $5. And Robolo Fish (known as Snook in the USA)..also cleaned and filleted. This is a coveted fish to eat in Florida, where it is nearly impossible to get… and is actually illegal to posess there unless you catch it yourself! Here we paid $15 for the fillets cut from a 15 lb fish. 😀
I can’t wait to get cooking!
